About the E&R Library & Archives
The E&R Library & Archives was formed on October 22, 1863 as the Historical Society of the German Reformed Church in the United States, and after the union of two traditions changed its name to include the former work of the Historical Commission of the Evangelical Synod of North America.
The mission of the E&R Library & Archives is to stimulate and cultivate interest in the continuing legacy of the Evangelical and Reformed Church.
- Collect and preserve historical material;
- Make information and resources accessible to all;
- Provide engaging educational opportunities;
- Foster cooperation with other interested organizations;
- Ensure the Society has the optimal infrastructure and funding to support its ongoing mission.
